Question 1 of 5

What loan do you need?

How banks decide your loan amount

Most lenders allow your total EMIs (old and new) to be roughly 40–60% of your monthly income, depending on how much you earn. This is called FOIR. Your credit score, job stability, age and the property or vehicle also matter.

Ways to get a higher amount

  • Close or reduce small loans and credit card dues before applying.
  • Add an earning family member as co-applicant.
  • Choose a longer tenure to lower the EMI.
  • Keep your credit score above 750 by paying every EMI and card bill on time.
